Apr. 3rd, 2006 09:31 pmSo far, this has not been a nice year.
Today, I was frantically clearing because a member of the landlord's staff is coming here tomorrow.
Then there were further problems. The secretariat of the Committee put together an e-mail, signed with my name, that was guarenteed to annoy the Chair and Vice-Chair. I objected to it. She then told me she had sent it in error. I was trying to check a lot of stuff, tried to open the "Committees" folder and got that "Are sure you want to delete this folder and move and its contents to the recycle bin?" notice. I went to click no - and then suddenly had a nasty feeling I had clicked yes.
I checked and the folder was still there. Everything appeared to be all right. I went to refer to it shortly afterwards and it has gone. Completely. Beyond the reach of "Find files and folders." Having searched and had nasty little doubts about my brain I had to experiment to understand. I must have hit the yes button. If I did the folder would then have been hanging off the recyle bin. I didn't realise that and didn't retrieve it and therefore it was delated after a short delay. Almost all the old SRB material, including contact numbers and where people went - same with Engage. All the BMJ links and almost all reference material on PPI and PCT!
Total disaster, caused entirely by my own stupidity and my not seeing/noticing that the Committees folder - I don't think it had moved but, if it worked the same way for that as it did for the experiemntal folder then it ceased to be attached to the original folder and became attached to the deleted items folder, and it was deleted when I automatically enmptied that folder when I culled the news-group stuff.
Please does anyone know if there is anything I can do to get that material back? It was in outlook express, not saved as documents.
