londonbard: walking tabby cat, (Tyger) (a getting there)

I just messed up badly by "trimming" the post before this one. I cut the whole last part, meaning to put it in this post. I went on checking the last post and stupidly "cut" one line instead of deleting it... and realised what I'd done a second too late. I switched straight to this one, hoping to be offered the "restore draft". LJ no longer seems to be doing that...

Please, could anyone tell me if there is any way of getting back material that was cut in error and not pasted? (Is it on the clip-board? How can I access that?)

If you cut it in your own browser, then just going "paste" should restore it... Oh, but if you cut something else, then... You might be able to do whatever the Windows equivalent is of "Undo"?

You're right. This idea didn't come to me until several hours after [livejournal.com profile] londonbard's question, so I hope not too late.

If in doubt, in future: I recommend saving incomplete LJ posts by posting them as Private until you're ready to post them to people. To do that, open the Private post and select 'modify post' then change who you're posting it to.

Another useful trick is to open a word processor, and to cut'n'paste words into it so that those words can be retrieved at leisure. I use the word-processing trick for comments on other people's LJ posts. I use it also when LJ is having one of its daft fits and failing us.
